1 lb. ground beef
1 lb. pork sausage
1 small onion
2 cloves garlic
30 oz. cooked tomatoes and their juice
12 oz. tomato paste
2 T. sugar
1½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. pepper
2 tsp. Italian seasoning spice blend
12 lasagna noodles
16 oz. ricotta cheese
2 eggs
½ c. freshly grated Parmesan cheese (and a little extra for the top)
2 T. parsley
1 tsp. salt
At least 1 lb. Mozzarella (4-6 cups freshly grated)
Here's how...
Brown ground beef, sausage onion and garlic in a large skillet. Drain the grease and add in the tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning. Bring to a boil over medium heat and then reduce the heat to low and simmer for least 30 minutes to let the flavors marry.
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook lasagna noodles as directed on the package. Drain.
In a small bowl, beat eggs and add the Ricotta, Parmesan, parsley, and salt. Mix well.
Grate Mozzarella cheese.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
Begin layering in a 9x13" pan as follows:
- 4 noodles
-1/2 of the ricotta mixture,
-1/2 of the Mozzarella,
-1/3 of the meat sauce
- 4 more noodles
-The other half of the ricotta mixture
-The rest of the Mozzerella,
-1/3 of the meat sauce
- 4 more noodles
-The remaining meat sauce.
Sprinkle with a little freshly grated Parmesan and bake for 40 minutes.
Let it set 10 minutes before cutting into it.
