Once upon a time, our family spent $5,000 on a 22 year old motorhome, packed all of our gear and our little Jack Russell and took off to see our remaining 13 states for an undetermined amount of time with $600 in our account, business to do along the way, and a whole lot of faith. Looking back, we all talk about that trip that changed all of us to our very core — it changed the way we view and move forward in the world, our trust in and knowledge of a very BIG God, a passionate love for this land, and gave us a vision to be able to let go of normal living and change everything we had known within a few short years. We bonded through the very real struggles. We fought. We were challenged on every front. We saw things and did things we hadn’t even known to dream. We learned how to step outside of the box in 2010. This link I’m about to share with you was written at the end of that trip. I can’t express the sense of wonder we had after all of it. We also were facing the immediate reality of leaving our few dozen square feet living space to arriving home with new eyeballs of perspective, and within a couple weeks, moving our son over a thousand miles away. My heart was simultaneously full and grieving. I still look back and wonder if I could do it all again.
Like every big, life challenge, the biggest growth usually comes at a price.
But please, read it. I’d love to hear about a grand adventure you had, and if you think this kind of trips sounds fun. Would you share it in the comments? Thank you for all of your input on FB, in texts, and emails, and here on the blog. Each one makes me so very happy — to know that we are sharing and talking and relating. :o)
