Last week I made Ham Dinner. Seriously, I’m not sure if my family would be more excited if I told them we were going to Disney World than they get over ham dinner. It’s a huge, exciting day at the Kirkseys when Momma makes ham.
A very close second is pork loin. Super easy, nice and lean and quite affordable if you buy it on sale.
I popped it in the crock-pot on Saturday night, and Sunday morning switched it from low to warm and we had the most tender, delicious pork dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy, a beautiful summer salad with strawberries and Buttery Biscuits, and the whole thing took me less than an hour to throw together.

You can also start it in the crockpot before lunch and have it ready by dinnertime.  6-8 hours on low.

But, here’s how you do it. Unwrap that big ol’ piece of meat and pop it in your crock-pot. Sprinkle the whole thing generously with salt and pepper and garlic powder. Drizzle it with about 2 Tablespoons of soy sauce and throw a bay leaf in, too. Pour in about a cup of water into the bottom of the pot.

Slice a good sized onion into rings and pile it all over the pork.

Now, put the whole thing on low and let it smell up your whole house with goodness. I have one child who says she can’t sleep when I’m making pork roast because the house smells too good. :o)

Today, I am using the rest to make an awesome Veggie Soup.  It also works fantastic to add some barbecue sauce and make BBQ sandwiches!

One of the easiest and most delicious meals you can make. Flavorful, juicy, tender pork perfect for dinner and leftovers later, made in the crock pot with just a few ingredients.

Grocery List
  • 1 pork loin--averaging around 5 lbs.
  • salt and pepper
  • garlic powder
  • 2 T. soy sauce
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 onion
  • 1 c. water
Here's how...
  1. Put the meat in the crock pot.
  2. Sprinkle the meat with salt and pepper and garlic powder.
  3. Drizzle with soy sauce, and add the bay leaf.
  4. Pour in a cup of water.
  5. Slice an onion into rings and pile it on the pork.
  6. Set the crock pot to low and cook overnight or 8 hours on low.
