A miracle creates the understanding of a limitless God Who is not only capable of doing anything, but will, for you just because He loves you.

That limitless God is Who I fell in love with once upon a time. Not Who I chose to follow the rules of, not Who I was scared of and thus, got me some fire insurance, not Who judges and punishes. Though those things are elements of a big God with a huge plan for humanity, they aren’t what helped me understand His heart and passion for a little girl from Nowheresville, Michigan. Just like when my kids think of me, I hope they don’t immediately think of the time I washed their mouth out with soap for hurting their sibling or punished them for telling a lie, I hope that they have known first and most, my love for them, trusting that my actions were ultimately for their good.

I was taught by churches about all of those above-mentioned things. I was taught that God had to fit in a steeple-shaped box, and though the words were certainly yes, Jesus loves me, it felt MUCH more like certain folks’ ideas of truth. The God they presented to me was small and fit into their brains quite nicely and quite honestly, held little appeal.

When I realized that the One that I had heard about was completely in love with me and sought me out to lavish His goodness on me, it changed absolutely everything. Who wouldn’t want this? Who would choose anything else? All of the other ideas, the other things folks get caught up in believing are missing the BEST part! It’s the LOVE!

Those of you who are happily married. Those of you who are parents. You surely know folks who aren’t and have tried to matchmake or have waxed all poetic about the joys of marriage and parenthood. You want the unexplainable joy that comes from the success of those things for other people! Even if the day-to-day make look fraught with challenges, disagreements, poopy diapers — you know the way the knowledge of loving so deeply absolutely changed your existence. You can’t imagine how anyone could go without what you have!

That’s what I learned. It was in a Bible study called Falling in Love With Jesus when I was in in my late twenties-is where I learned a new kind of love He had for me. And from there, it was in the million little moments where He continued to show me that He hears my cries. That He cares enough about me to answer me — whether it’s “Father, where are my keys!?!” or “Will You please heal my husband!”

This limitless God has done more miracles for me then I know how to chronicle. When I was a little girl, I begged for a miracle. This would be how I would know God was real. I had said the magic church words and I tried SO very hard to be good. I said the Lord’s Prayer every night before bed, as well as thanking Him for literally every object I’d ever seen, begging forgiveness for each thing from boogers to biting fingernails. I was going to to do it right, dang it. I was super scared of fire-forever. He didn’t do a miracle for little me. I’m not sure what I would’ve done with it at that point with no one to talk to about it. But He’s done so very many for me since then. Do you want to hear some of them? I’m thinking in the days ahead, I would like to tell you more about how He has no limits. My blog has tried to do that over the years, so I will share and find some oldies and goodies for you. Because I long for nothing more than for you to know this outstanding and positively life-changing love.

It’s not religion and rules, friends. It’s quite simply, the love of your life.

Have you ever experienced a miracle? Something that you know that you know was unexplainable? Would you share it with me? I can hardly wait! :o)

Thank you, Jodi for the thought-provoking question you asked about when I fell in love with Jesus.
